Angelo Maria Petroni is a member of the “ISEA Working Group on Digital Economy and the Geopolitical and Regulatory Impact of AI Development”, a project of ISEA.
Angelo Maria Petroni was born in 1956 and is currently a professor of Logic and Philosophy of Science at the University of Rome. Prior to his current position, he held the same chair at the University of Bologna for many years. Petroni also worked as a professor at Sorbonne University in Paris and Bocconi University in Milan.
Petroni earned his Ph.D. from the Catholic University of Louvain under the supervision of Jean Ladrière. He is a member of the Accademia delle Scienze dell’Istituto di Bologna and Académico Correspondiente of the Spanish Real Academia de Ciencias Morales y Politicas.
Since 2007, Petroni has served as the Secretary General of Aspen Institute Italia. He is also a member of the board of the Aurelio Peccei Foundation, the Italian chapter of the Club of Rome, a position he has held since 2000.
From 2001 to 2006, Petroni was the General Director of the National School of Public Administration of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, an institution responsible for selecting and training top civil servants in Italy. He also served on the executive board of the Italian public broadcasting company, RAI, from 2003 to 2012.
Petroni has also been a member of the board of advisors of the Foundation for Italian Art and Culture in New York and a member of the board of guarantors and a Senior Fellow of the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America at Columbia University, New York.
In his academic work, Petroni has written extensively on the history and logic of scientific discovery in physics, methodology of social sciences, and contemporary Liberal thought.
